Wine Rating Chart

27 Feb

Ever wondered what a wine rating means? Check out the chart below.

Note: The wine ratings on this site are relative to kosher wine only. That is to say, a wine that scores 95 points is “outstanding” in the realm of the kosher wine world, but may not rate as high in the wine world at large.

Is this according to your ratings or do you believe this is true in general? like Rogovs ratings?

      Hi Sam,

Great question. This discussion probably warrants a write up of how I rate the wines. In short, I break the rating process into two components, technical and comparative. The technical part assigns points to various different aspects of the wine (color, aromas, flavor, body, finish). The comparative part deals with how this wine ranks with other wines in its category. It’s this second part that I direct the disclaimer. Rogov drinks both kosher and non-kosher wines, so he has the ability to compare the kosher wine to all other wines in the same category. Since I only drink kosher wine, I am limited in that respect.

      Hope that answers your question.

      Jon
